Gingerbread cookies are a Christmas customs and my dear,we are one week from Christmas holiday and I have to say, FINALLY!

These last weeks at school have been quite rough and I really need to rest and read, have fun and mostly eat! Even if I’m looking forward to go to my grand parents for the holidays, as I had always done since I was a child, I’m a bit sad, as it would be the last Christmas that I will spend with them. From next year almost all things will change and this is something that frightened me, but I wish to spend a wonderful Christmas and I wish it to you too!

But let’s see what recipe can accompany as during holidays: the traditionals and never old Gingerbread Cookies!

GINGERBREAD COOKIES

gingerbread 1

  • 350g flour
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 2 tsp of ground ginger
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 125g of butter
  • 175g of brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp of golden syrup

In the bowl of your mixer, put the flour and add baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, sugar and at least butter, that you cut earlier into cubes. Now start the mixer at a low speed and cover the bowl with a cloth to avoid the flour going everywhere.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and the golden syrup and then add it to the standing mixer bowl and let it work until all is well combined.

Now move the dough on a pastry board and work it for no more than five minutes and create a ball. Cover the ball with cling film and let rest the gingerbread dough in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Now turn on the oven at 180 °C. In a floured surface, roll a bit of the gingerbread dough and cut it into the shapes you prefer. If you want to use them as Christmas decorations, before you put them in the oven, you can do a little hole with a toothpick.

Bake in the oven for about 12-15 minutes, and let cool completely before serving the Gingerbread Cookies. You can decorate them or use them as decorations with a thread.

Simple and with a sweet perfume that will spread all over the house, that’s the Gingerbread magic!
